In today's topsy-turvy world filled with conflict and uncertainty, anxiety has become almost ubiquitous. Young people suffer from it as do their parents.
What I am presenting to you here is a free online webinar for you to check out. It is called "The Philosophy of Anxiety" and is being presented by the Plato's Academy Centre through an outfit called Eventbrite.
I know, I know... Sounds a bit on the dry side, however the list of presenters is really good and includes some very familiar and respected names in the philosophical world. Donald Robertson and Massimo Pigliucci for example. I personally have read multiple books by these authors and have gained valuable insights and more important, ways to integrate those insights into my daily life.
Here's a copy of what's included in the webinar.
Overview
How do we find our footing when the ground feels shaky? Ancient wisdom and evidence-based tools tell us how...
Anxiety isn’t a one-size-fits-all experience. It can be as quiet as the low-level hum of everyday worries or as overwhelming as the weight of current global events. Whether you are navigating personal career stress or the collective unease of the modern world, the question remains the same: How do we find our footing when the ground feels shaky?
This is a free online event, open to everyone.Attendance does not require a donation, though voluntary support for the Plato’s Academy Centre is always welcome.
If you register in advance, recordings of all sessions will be made available afterwards, so you can participate regardless of your time zone.
We’re Doing Things Differently
While the event features presentations from leading philosophers and clinicians, we know that when it comes to anxiety, you don’t just want to be talked at — you want to be engaged.
The core of the day is built around two interactive panel discussions focused on real-life situations, rather than abstract theory. These conversations explore the kinds of anxieties people are actually facing today and how philosophical insight and clinical practice can work together to address them.
Where Ancient Wisdom Meets Clinical Practice
To offer grounded and applicable perspectives, we bring together two complementary approaches:
Modern Philosophers — specialists in Stoicism and classical thought who offer conceptual tools for re-examining how we relate to adversity.
Evidence-Based Practitioners — including CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) clinicians who provide practical, scientifically grounded strategies for managing psychological and physiological stress.
So here's a link for you to register for the event. I hope you attend and I would love to discuss it with you afterwards.
Be well my friends! Until next time.
